Perspective plans

  • Prepared the State Perspective plan for Integrated Watershed Management Programme in 2010
  • Mapping of all types of schools in the State including Government, Aided and Unaided schools from Lower Primary to Higher Secondary levels during 2008-13
  • Preparation of District Perspective Plan under MGNREGA programme for Thrissur and Malappuram districts during 2006-10
  • Prepared Watershed Development Planning for about 110 Grama Panchayats in Palakkad, Thrissur, Malappuram, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram Districts during 2008-2015
  • Mapping of public water bodies in Kuttanad region, a Ramsar site

River Management Plans

  • Micro level mapping of major features of the banks of Bharathapuzha for Department of Revenue during 2010-2014
  • Sand auditing

Local Governments

  • Developed a master plan for Wadakkanchery Block Panchayat, Thrissur District to intensify paddy cultivation, which resulted in the formation of the first skilled labour bank of the state, the Green Army during 2006-09
  • Local Level Natural Resource Management Project: Funded by SDC-CapDecK in Vadakarapathy and Eruthenpathy Panchayats of Palakkad District, with the objective of building up of the capacity of community organization for management and conservation of natural resources and water bodies in the context of decentralization

Urban plans

  • Prepared Detailed Project Reports under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme with an outlay of Rs 110 cr benefitting 175 urban clusters during 2006-10
  • Acted as the supporting agency for planning and implementation of the Integrated Low Cost sanitation Scheme in 7 Municipalities during 2007-15

Agriculture

  • Visualised and implemented a programme under Mahila Kisan Saskatheekaran Pariyojana for organizing women labour banks and reviving paddy cultivation in the state during 2010-20
  • Coconut Producer Societies

Networking

  • In this programme funded by Oxfam India/Swaraj, a platform was created in the NRM sector among different community groups and researchers by sharing ideas and information on water issues and by undertaking small studies
  • Replicable and sustainable alternate models were also created under this programme
  • Two river resource centres, 21 research studies and networking with other NGOs were also done as part of this initiative with an outlay of Rs 50 Lakhs

Research Studies

  • Developed a methodology to apply the concept of Time and Motion Analysis of manual works involved on soil and water associated components under NREGA in Kerala. Later the Govt of India adopted the methodology and scaled it up for other states
  • Replicable and sustainable alternate models were also created under this programme

Rural Water supply and sanitation projects

  • Comprehensive Drinking Water and Sanitation Projects of Kerala Rural Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation agency, funded by World Bank since 1999. These projects are comprehensive projects covering water supply, sanitation, watershed, drainage, environmental sanitation, hygiene education, skill development and income generating schemes. The project's implementation and future maintenance is done by Beneficiary Groups. Maithri was the Supporting Organization for one of the five pilot Panchayats. The project was subsequently implemented in five Grama Panchayats in viz: Erimayur, Kozhinjampara and Muthalamada in Palakkad district and Vettom and Thazhekode in Malappuram district
  • Another project in Muthalamada Grama Panchayat, known as Muthalamada Tribal Development plan with a special emphasis on tribal population was implemented under this scheme
  • The Netherlands Embassy funded Jeevadhara Project, through the Socio Economic Unit Foundation (SEUF) is for providing drinking water and sanitation facilities in Mankulam Grama Panchayat in Idukki District for which Maithri acted as the Empowerment Agency

Participatory studies

  • Maithri was one of the three agencies in Kerala to conduct a pilot survey on socio-economic status of rural families at selected villages in the state. It was funded by the Union Ministry of Rural Development. Maithri was involved in the second phase of the survey which was participatory. This was done by Maithri in Mankara, Perumpadappu and Enmakaje Grama Panchayats in Palakkad, Malappuram and Kasaragod district respectively
